New Sarah Blasko album gets ****1/2 star review in The West Australian

The accolades continue to roll in for Sarah Blasko’s latest album, “As Day Follows Night”, with another 4 1/2 star review in today’s West Australian Newspaper (in The Wire liftout).

The West’s Music Editor Simon Collins praised Blasko’s powerful pop songwriting and ethereal voice, with quotes like:

"Another stunning album from Blasko,”

and

“As Day Follows Night is a pop album in the same sense that Nina Simone or Kate Bush albums are pop – great music, evocative lyrics and, most of all, a stunning vocal performance. Here, Blasko has cultivated a most beautiful speciman.”

The review comes on the back of reviews from Rolling Stone and Jmag offering similar praise:

"Sarah‘s music has always had an ethereal quality, and together with Bjorn she has made what will be one of the most interesting and beautiful Australian albums of 2009." ****1/2 JMag, July 2009.

"The listener has been invited in to enjoy Blasko‘s brilliance, not just forced to admire it from a distance." **** Rolling Stone, July 2009

3 February 2009 - Season Thanks

Season Thanks

NOVEMBER 2008 – FEBRUARY 2009

LIVE AT THE QUARRY is over for another year and Mellen Events and Lloyd Events would like to thank everyone who helped to make the 2008/2009 season a sold out success from the first show to the last.

With every show from November 2008 to February 2009 selling out well in advance, it quickly became apparent that The Quarry Amphitheatre was the place to be this summer.  Balmy Australian evenings with picnic hampers (and more often than not a lovely bottle of Margaret River wine) were spent listening to some of Australia’s finest performers – many thanks to Paul Kelly for his Perth A-Z Premiere; Tripod for sharing their largely inappropriate Christmas wishes with us; James Morrison for being Australia’s funniest jazz musician as well as our finest; and of course The Whitlams who closed the series last weekend with three memorable sold out nights.

Mellen Events and Lloyd Events wish to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors: Amadeus Energy, who for the second year running came on board as naming sponsor and without whose investment in the project this success would largely not be possible; our Margaret River wine sponsor Flametree, whose award winning wines were the highlight of the series for many; and our media sponsors The West Australian and 96fm who supported the event from the first announcement until the last ticket was sold, and ensured the Quarry will be back even bigger and better later this year.

See you then!
