4 October 2010 - John Williamson inducted in to ARIA Hall of Fame
“Finally” is the word that seems most often spoken in relation to John Williamson’s imminent induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. Williamson said, “I am delighted about the news that I will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010. In my 40th year in the industry, I feel like I’m probably one of the oldest to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. It’s probably because I was a one-hit screamer for thirteen years after Old Man Emu! Forty years of songs hasn’t been without its disappointments - the first ten I had no idea where I was going, but the last thirty have been truly rewarding. And I’m proud that my songs have struck a chord with everyday Aussies. They were written for them. I love this beautiful big country; it inspires me. And there will always be battlers out there forging a living against the odds. I will continue to write about them for as long as I can.” What a legend indeed!
3 October 2010 - Georgia Fair support Lisa Mitchell
Jordan and Ben first became mates when they discovered their mutual passion in exploring and writing new music. When not playing and writing, they were raiding their father's album collections for inspiration and direction, drawing on the likes of Fleetwood Mac & Bob Dylan.
The boys met in the early years of high school and quickly became musical companions, ready to take on the world with their melodic songs and subtle harmonies. Having recently toured in Queensland and northern NSW, their live show is gaining a great reputation.
A recent Faster Louder interview sums it up: "Naturally easy going, even on stage, their music sounds beautifully soft; the perfect kind for Sunday afternoon drinks. Lead singer Jordan has a stunning voice, and it was evident both he and guitarist Ben had a laid back disposition. Georgia Fair have a supreme collection of songs, all equally stunning. Highly recommended to all acoustic folk lovers."
Armed with an ever-growing collection of original tracks Georgia Fair headed to the US to work with Bill Reynolds (Band Of Horses) on there new EP due out in October featuring members of Boy & Bear, it is safe to say that there are big things ahead for Georgia Fair
Having already toured the country with the likes of Oh Mercy, Whitley, Kate Miller-Heidke, Newton Falkner & Lisa Mitchell
Georgia Fair are once again excited to share the stage with Lisa Mitchell at the iconic Quarry Amphitheatre
